Humans have been residing on planet Earth for a long long time now, dating back lot of centuries. Over this huge time frame, so many things have come & gone, so many things have changed. So many celestial changes would have taken place, so much activity would have happened on the galaxial front. It would be only apt to re-think of what we humans have done over the decades and what would it be termed in terms of effectiveness, evolution, prospective-ness and advancement. Though the definition of the terms just used would have different perspective to different people and the term may or may not have been relevant is one time-frame or the other. These are terms which might make sense and help relate to the current human diaspora. The humans have undergone lot of changes. There has been umpteen evolutionary changes in what humans- believe in, in the way a human life is led and the way humans make sense about various activities that take place around them on a day-to-day basis. For getting into the spirit of this topic, the reader has to bring in perspective the whole time line of human evolution, from the point when humans originated on planet earth to the current reference of time. Having set the perspective, lets dig deeper into the meat of our topic of how we have fared over the centuries and have we really moved forward by different standards, which we will get into shortly. This obviously is a very debatable issue and there is no easy way to address it with authority or provide the most conclusive factual evidence to classify it one way or the other. There would be this huge section of human race which would strongly believe that humans have for sure progressed by all means and by most yard-sticks thinkable. Sure, there are plethora of reasons to substantiate that thought process. Some of which are: The huge scientific development and progress the humans have come to terms with, including the tons and tons of inventions, discoveries which have helped produce all the material goods that humans can think and perceive of and find himself luxuriated in. The scientific community has changed the face of surface earth and the human race at large. Though none of us reading would have got the opportunity to have glimpsed at what we would have been or looked like centuries and centuries back, we can at best contemplate. My read is, the earth, when once life started on it would have been lot more greener, lots of tress, jungles and forest, not a iota of concrete standing anywhere, clothe-less and shabby looking humans- who would be looking no different than the animals and creatures that would been around at that time.
Now if we look around us, it would hit us hard, of how sophisticated we have become over the centuries with so much options to wear on, so much to eat, drink and entertain us on, along with tons of activities to get ourselves really busy on. It is so striking to see that we humans have really made Plane Earth, one heck of a planet by stripping it of its green's and cementing it all over, giving it a dashing grey-ish look for the galaxy voyager who would pass by planet earth. Coming back into planet earth, look at all the things around us- the flashy electronics gadgets, the umpteem household utility appliances and what not. With all these to our credit, can any one in his right senses even think for a fraction of a second that we humans have not progressed. May be, yes, there is a section of the same race which would be bold enough to declare that we have not really progressed because all the yard-stick that has been referred above are so very materialistic, so empty and so human'ish. Even though this would be a very miniscule amount of people who belong to this school of thought, but its interesting and important to dwell into what exactly they mean by what they say.
Ok, so what this group really tries to say is, humans have had this intrinsic weakness of restricting themselves in a circle till which they can make sense of, or draw a logic out of it. This is in effect contradicting the scientific community which solely believes on things which can be support by a scientific algorithm or a mathematical calculation to go with it. Things beyond that are neither acceptable to the modern community and for that matter doesn't even exist for them. This group tries to chide off the bigger group, citing their largely myopic perspective which is primarily defined by their reach of logical conclusions. This group seems to have a more open and receptive perspective, in terms of reaching out to things, which is beyond the logical explanation of an average human. Interesting, isn't it. So what the latter group is trying to impress upon is that our ancestors were more wise and intellectual in that regards because they did not have any pre-conceived opinion or notion to begin with and they where neither bombarded with 20 odd years of academic trash which makes sure one does not think beyond what has printed in the books and thus restrict their thought process and thus their life to the modern scriptures and writings. The essence of their commentary is, that the richness of knowledge, understanding and wisdom which was once upon, several centuries back common-sense to human race, now needs a research scientist putting his whole life into it to make sense out of it. The other aspect being the myopic and ego centric approach of the scientific community of current-age to rubbish away the left over intelligence of yester-years, by damning it as superstition.
This is starting to sound like, let me stop and give you'll an example: A young brilliant chap, say after having graduated through college has been suddenly hit by a thunder-bolt and after he comes back to senses starts looking at the characters in one of the nearby sign boards and keeps staring at it, trying to make sense out of it.
There he goes again,,, the cycle starts again......Did the thunder strike you??
Wow... we humans are really such a fascinating Race.
