Hi,
This is a usual annotation made on visa to differentiate 'regular' visa from 'special category' or 'diplomatic' visas. If you are concerned about this just show to an immigration lawyer, who will put your mind to rest.

R is just the Type, "R" means regular visa.
As Raajii said
it is a usual annotation made on visa to differentiate 'regular' visa from 'special category' or 'diplomatic' visas.

You don't have to think abt it ..., it has no specific significance ofr common person. It is useful for US immigration/consulate authorties.
