Visa Length: Unknown (Waiting for my passport to arrive)
I had an interview at the Mumbai Consulate for my H1B visa.
I am a first time applicant. I had my visa interview scheduled for Sep 17th at Mumbai. Appoint at 8.30 am
Petition Approved: May 2009
I was at the consulate at 8.15 AM, there was a huge queue and got to enter the consulate only at 10.45 AM or so... that was the piece that took a toll on me as my wife was sick and could not stand outside. Rest the Interview was very smooth and I was done in less than 5 minutes.
Entered the consulate, completed the security check and handed over my appointment letter and passport. They made us wait in the queue for the finger printing, that took about 15 minutes. Once the finger printing was completed, we were waiting for our taken to be called out.
After about 15 minutes our token was called:
VO: Hello
Me: Hello, how are you this morning
VO: Good
(now she was looking at my papers and then started looking at her computer screen)

ME: I am going to be managing Operations of the US clients of the company and some other blurb on my Job responsibilities... I articulated it all. (Process Improvement, Technology Upgrades etc)
VO: So are you also a Sales Manager
Me: Yes
Now the Visa officer was looking at the computer and typing something.
VO: Your visa has been approved and you should have your passport sent my courier.
Me: thank you
It was a good experience. Not many questions.
Good luck to all, I hope this experience may help someone for their visa. |
