The registration period for the 2025 Diversity Visa lottery is now closed as of November 7, 2023. The entry period for online registrations initially began on October 4, 2023, and remained open for about a month to give time for DV hopefuls to get their entries submitted.
For 2025, 55,000 Diversity Visas will be available for eligible applicants who meet DV criteria including being a citizen of a country with a low immigration rate to the United States and other requirements such as having a high school education or its equivalent and having two years of work experience within the past five years of in an occupation that requires at least two years of training and experience to perform.

How to Check Your 2025 Diversity Visa Status
After a successful submission of your 2025 Diversity Visa registration, you can track your status online via the Electronic Diversity Visa Program website.
- Entry status can be checked beginning at noon (EDT) on May 4, 2024
- Enter in your confirmation information through the link above to check your entrant status – entrant’s confirmation number, last/family name, and birth year
- You will NOT be emailed or contacted if you are selected in the DV lottery. You must manually check your entry status.
- Have your confirmation number on hand until at least September 30, 2025
When you check your entrant status online, and you have been selected for further processing, you will next complete the steps on the following pages before you can schedule an interview. Do this as soon as possible to increase your chances of receiving a visa.
If selected, it is highly recommended that you complete your online DS-260 application as soon as possible so that you can move forward with scheduling an interview appointment at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
Note
Being selected in the 2025 DV lottery does NOT guarantee that you will receive an interview or a visa. There may be more selectees than available visas in order to issue all available Diversity Visas.
