H1-B Registration For Cap 2023 Season Starts Tomorrow – THIS Is What You Should Do Now

H1-B registration for FY 2023 is on! UCSIC has opened its online registration system since February 22, 2022. For all companies that is looking to sponsor a foreign national for H-1B cap employment starting on October 1, 2022, you have until March 18, 2022 at 12 PM eastern time (ET) to create an active USCIS account. 

Process: How To Create A USCIS Account

Employers who are sponsoring their employee should create the account. This can be done on the USCIS website by following these steps – 

  • Click the “sign up” option
  • Provide E-mail address & password
  • Establish two-factor authorization 
  • Set up security questions
  • Pick account type – I am an H-1B Registrant
  • Incorrect account type will be rejected.

What Information To Submit For Beneficiary 

Employers have very specific information that they have to provide about the beneficiary –

  • Full legal name
  • Gender
  • Date of Birth
  • Country of birth and country of citizenship
  • Passport number, if applicable
  • Advanced-degree cap eligibility, if applicable

Important To Know

There are certain factors to consider when registering with USCIS. Making errors when registering can result in rejection of your account or the beneficiary not registering properly. Consider the following – 

Always remember to pay the non-refundable $10 fee when registering.

Employers can only submit one registration per beneficiary per entity. Duplicate entries are rejected.

Companies can register & submit multiple registrations but should cap it at 250 beneficiaries at a time.

Accounts from a prior year can be used. However, it cannot be transferred or shared, even within the same organization.

Different entities under the same organization that are sponsoring H-1B beneficiaries should create their own account. Each account must correspond to an individual email address and Employer Identification Number (EIN).

Next Steps: After H1-B Registration Is Completed

Employers are given a unique passcode to access their H-1B application. By looking at the current update, you can assess status. This could be denoted as “selected,” “approved,” or “submitted.” 

USCIS will conduct two cap lotteries between March 18, 2022 and March 31, 2022. On March 31, 2022, lottery results will be accessed through the USCIS online accounts.Employers and immigration counsel can access these results. 

The winners of this lottery can begin filing completed petitions on April 1, 2022 and until June 30, 2022.
