The December 2023 Visa Bulletin brought news of little to no significant changes from the November 2023 Visa Bulletin. We expect the January 2024 Visa Bulletin to be released within the next few weeks. Similar to the December 2023 announcement, we do not expect to see significant changes in the January 2024 Visa Bulletin as USCIS works through the large visa backlog.
The demand for both family-based visas and employment-based visas remains extremely high. Unfortunately, we see this causing a stagnancy in the priority dates; perhaps, we will even witness a retrogress in the dates in the January 2024 Visa Bulletin and beyond.
Let’s take a look at what we can expect to see in the upcoming January 2024 Visa Bulletin.
January 2024 Visa Bulletin Predictions
In our initial January 2024 predictions, featured in our December 2023 Visa Bulletin Results and Analysis article, we predicted no key changes in categories such as India EB2 or India EB3. Due to the high demand and backlog, we may even see that India EB2 retrogresses to an earlier priority date. Since we saw a stagnancy in the family-based visa categories in the December 2023 Visa Bulletin, we are uncertain that priority dates in categories under this preference will move forward.
It is possible to see the USCIS continue to process the backlog of applications and gain a better idea of the overall demand and current visa usage. Otherwise, we don’t expect to see any significant advancement in priority dates in the January 2024 Visa Bulletin.
January 2024 Visa Bulletin Release Date
Based on recent trends, we expect the January 2024 Visa Bulletin to be released on December 6, 2023, or the following week around December 13, 2023.
Check back as soon as the bulletin is released for our complete breakdown of priority date changes and updates.
