The U.S. Embassy in India has announced that as of November, they have successfully processed a record number of total visas in 2023 than ever before. Just last month, the U.S. Embassy in India surpassed 1 million processed visas in 2023, a goal that beat the total number of visas processed in 2022 and pre-pandemic processing numbers.
It’s official! As of this month, our India team processed more visa applications in 2023 than in any previous year. And we aren’t done yet! We’ll be serving thousands of students, workers, tourists, and more in the coming weeks just in time for the busy holiday travel season.… pic.twitter.com/2oYWRIyZ2f

In addition to reaching and going beyond their goal of 1 million visas processed, the U.S. Embassy in India also issued a record number of 90,000 U.S. student visas over the summer, and were also able to ensure that all of these students were able to reach their approved programs in time for their study start dates.
The announcement also mentioned that the U.S. Embassy in India is still processing visas at a rapid pace in the next coming weeks to serve students, workers, and tourists for the holidays which is a busy travel season.
Just last month on October 31, 2023, the U.S. Embassy in India also reported that they opened over a quarter of a million nonimmigrant visa appointments in an effort to reduce visa appointment wait times. As of November 21, 2023, the visitor visa (B1/B2) interview appointment wait time in New Delhi is just 25 calendar days, a significant improvement over the past year.
The increase in visa processing and decreased visa appointment wait times is an excellent start to getting things back on track to pre-pandemic times. India continues to remain one of the top countries for approved visas for the United States, and there is no doubt this trend will ring true well into the future.
