The US Embassy in India recently announced that all non-immigrant visa interviews scheduled between June 22 and June 26, 2015 have been cancelled. Applicants who have scheduled visa interviews at the embassy in New Delhi or at a US Consulate in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Hyderabad during this period will have to reschedule their visa interviews and biometric appointments for a date later than July 6, 2015.
The cause of this cancellation period is linked to a hardware failure that occurred in a US State Department facility on June 9. Due to this failure, the Department is unable to process or transmit the biometric data checks at embassies and consulates where visas are issued.
