An employment verification letter, or EVL, is submitted with your immigration documents as an affidavit of support by your employer to either prove income or employment. If this document is required by USCIS when submitting your immigration forms, you will want to request this letter from your employer.
There are a few key items that this letter should include:
- Start date of your employment
- Title or position
- Current employment status (PT/FT)
- Hourly or salary wage
The more specific that the employment letter is, the better it will serve as proof of evidence for your immigration matters. Be sure that the letter is signed by your employer for verification purposes.
Below is a sample employment verification letter template that you can use as a guide. Your employer may provide a letter based on this format, but tailored to your specific situation and job responsibilities.
