Predictions for the August 2023 Visa Bulletin
In the June and July 2023 Visa Bulletins, the U.S. Department of State warned about future retrogressions on the horizon. With these indications in mind, we predict the following priority date changes for the upcoming August 2023 Visa Bulletin.
Retrogression in F2A for All Countries
In April 2023, a final action date was set for the F2A preference category in response to the significant demand and utilization within the category. However, it is now anticipated that there may be a need to retrogress this final action date as early as August as the utilization approaches its limit and demand continues to increase.
Retrogression in F2B for ROW, China, and India
The U.S. Department of State has reported a significant increase in demand for the F2B preference category. Consequently, it is likely that a retrogression of the final action date for Rest of the World (ROW), India, and China will be necessary in the upcoming months.
Retrogression of India EB2 Final Action Date
As indicated in the May 2023 Visa Bulletin, a retrogression in the India EB2 category is expected in the near future. Surprisingly, the June and July 2023 Visa Bulletins have not implemented the retrogression of India EB2 priority dates yet. However, it is anticipated that the August 2023 Visa Bulletin will reflect the retrogression of these priority dates.
Retrogression in EB1 for India and China
The May 2023 Visa Bulletin alerted us to the possibility of retrogression in final action dates for the EB1 category in China and India due to a surge in demand. However, the June and July 2023 Visa Bulletins did not yet reflect this anticipated adjustment. It appears that the retrogression mentioned earlier may take effect in August.
The retrogression of priority dates and the subsequent delays have far-reaching implications for individuals and their families. Job opportunities, reunification with loved ones, and the pursuit of a better future are all put on hold as the wait for status adjustment continues.
Despite the setbacks faced in 2023, individuals in this situation must persevere and remain resilient. It is important to stay informed about the latest updates from the U.S. Department of State and the USCIS and explore alternative options to maintain legal status or seek alternative pathways for immigration. By seeking guidance from immigration professionals and support networks, affected individuals can navigate these challenging times with determination and hope for a more favorable future.
