What is InfoPass?

InfoPass is a free service that enables you to schedule an appointment with a USCIS officer online. You can make an InfoPass appointment if you have questions regarding your immigration application or any other USCIS services. You may also use InfoPass to request to speak to a USCIS officer if you need assistance with the following topics:

  • Citizenship
  • Obtaining a green card for family members
  • Permanent residence or green card
  • Deferred action

InfoPass is strictly for seeking information; it is not for checking the status of USCIS forms and cases. You should only make an appointment with InfoPass to request information on the topics listed above, not to ask about your USCIS case status.

Why should I make an InfoPass appointment?

An InfoPass appointment can be beneficial to you in the following ways.

  • If you received an order from the Immigration Court’s Immigration Judge to further process your case. You will be required to bring with you all documents listed.
  • Case Processing Appointment such as ADIT processing.
  • EAD inquiry appointment. If your I-765 employment authorization application is pending for over 90 days, you may submit a request for an interim EAD.
  • If you require emergency travel documents, you may apply for advance parole travel documents if your application is pending. You must be able to provide compelling reasons for wanting to travel outside the U.S.
  • Case Services follow-up appointment, if more than 45 days has passed since you had contacted NCSC and have not received an answer to your inquiry. Bring the Service Request ID Number to the appointment.
  • If you are a new Permanent Resident and still haven’t received your PR card.
  • If you want to file N-300 and N-470 in person.
  • If you have a query and require assistance with your pending immigration case.

Will scheduling/attending an InfoPass appointment help me resolve my case?

This service is not applicable to individuals with complex legal cases. It is an assistance venue provided by the USCIS to provide information and direction regarding application processing and customer service related issues. Complex issues are addressed by the Service Center or the office where you filed your application.

Making an InfoPass Appointment

InfoPass is available in twelve languages, so you can schedule your appointment in your native language if you prefer. When you log on to schedule your appointment, the first step is to select your preferred language from the left sidebar. You will be able to choose from the following available languages:

  • English, Chinese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Esperanto, Tagalog, Polish, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Korean, Russian

Once you’ve chosen your preferred language, schedule your appointment by following the steps below.

  • Click the appropriate button to make or cancel your appointment.
  • Enter your zip code if you live in the US, or select your country of residence if you live outside the US, and click continue.
  • Select your reason for making the InfoPass appointment.
  • Enter your personal details such as name, date of birth, phone number, and zip code.
  • Select the date and time you desire for your appointment.
  • Schedule the appointment and obtain the Electronic Appointment Notice. It will appear on the screen. Print it and jot down the date, time, location, and the receipt number of the appointment. Additional instructions will be printed on your appointment notice such as the documents you need to bring. Appointments are typically available within two weeks

What documents should I bring to my InfoPass appointment?

You may be required to bring the following documents to your USCIS InfoPass appointment:

  • Your Electronic Appointment Notice
  • Photo Identification such as military card, Employment Authorization Document, passport, driver’s license, etc.
  • Other USCIS forms, original documents, and receipts
